To the Mom Who Feels Like She’s Failing at the One Thing She Was Sure God Called Her To…

Let’s be honest. Some days you feel like the circus clown… Only the clowns have more help and better costumes. Your “classroom” is the kitchen table. Your students? One’s crying, one’s hiding, one’s asking you a question that sounds like it came straight out of a college exam. Meanwhile, the baby’s screaming, the dog just threw up on the rug, and the toddler… well… let’s just say the peanut butter was NOT supposed to be art supplies. And you? You’re standing there with cold coffee, wondering how in the world you ended up in charge of someone’s entire education. "Maybe I’m in over my head." "Maybe I’m wrecking their future." "Maybe they’d be better off with a real teacher." You’ve seen those Instagram-perfect homeschool moms… Neat handwriting on the whiteboard, shelves arranged by color, kids smiling like they just won the lottery for Most Well-Behaved Family. You’ve tried to copy them. You’ve stayed up past midnight rearranging books, printing lesson ...

Living a Holy Life: Understanding "The Imitation of Christ"

Have you ever felt lost or confused in life? Jesus says, “Anyone who follows me shall not walk in darkness.” This means that if we try to live like Jesus, we won’t be lost in our troubles and confusion. Following Him will help us find peace and light in our hearts.

The best way to live is to learn about the life of Jesus and try to act like Him. We should make it our most important goal to think about His life and follow His example. Jesus' teachings are greater than any wisdom found in books or from people. If we have His spirit, we will find comfort and strength in His words.

But many people hear the Bible over and over without really wanting to live like Christ. This is because they don't have the spirit of Jesus in them. To truly understand and appreciate His words, we need to try to be like Him in everything we do.

Think about it: what’s the use of knowing everything about the Holy Trinity if we don't live humbly? Big words and clever ideas don't make us holy. What makes us special to God is living a good and virtuous life. I’d rather feel truly sorry for my sins than be able to explain them perfectly.

If you knew the whole Bible and all the wise sayings of the philosophers, what good would it be without God’s love and grace? It would be like having a full stomach but an empty heart. The wisest thing we can do is to see the world as it is – a place that will not last forever. We should love the world not because it gives us happiness, but because God made it. We should aim for heaven, our true home, in everything we do.

So, what is vanity? Vanity is chasing after things that don’t last. It’s wanting to be rich and famous or to have things we don’t need. It’s hoping for a long life but not caring about living a good life. It’s focusing only on what’s happening now and not thinking about what comes after this life. It’s living only for pleasure and not seeking the eternal joy that God has prepared for us.

Think about this: “The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear filled with hearing.” This means that no matter how much we have or experience, it’s never enough. We always want more. Instead of being caught up in this endless cycle, we should focus on things that last forever—like God’s love and grace.

Let’s try to move our hearts away from the things we can see and touch, and focus on what we cannot see—God’s kingdom. If we live only for this world, we harm our conscience and lose God’s grace. But if we live for God, we will find true peace and happiness, both now and forever.

So, let's reflect on our lives, make simple changes, and try to follow Jesus more closely every day. By doing this, we will not only live a good life here but also prepare ourselves for the everlasting joy of heaven.
