To the Mom Who Feels Like She’s Failing at the One Thing She Was Sure God Called Her To…

Let’s be honest. Some days you feel like the circus clown… Only the clowns have more help and better costumes. Your “classroom” is the kitchen table. Your students? One’s crying, one’s hiding, one’s asking you a question that sounds like it came straight out of a college exam. Meanwhile, the baby’s screaming, the dog just threw up on the rug, and the toddler… well… let’s just say the peanut butter was NOT supposed to be art supplies. And you? You’re standing there with cold coffee, wondering how in the world you ended up in charge of someone’s entire education. "Maybe I’m in over my head." "Maybe I’m wrecking their future." "Maybe they’d be better off with a real teacher." You’ve seen those Instagram-perfect homeschool moms… Neat handwriting on the whiteboard, shelves arranged by color, kids smiling like they just won the lottery for Most Well-Behaved Family. You’ve tried to copy them. You’ve stayed up past midnight rearranging books, printing lesson ...

Reflecting on Wealth and Worry: Do the Rich Have Problems Too?

I often find myself wondering: What problems do the wealthy face when they seem to have everything? They don’t have to worry about daily necessities like we do, constantly wondering if we can make it through the coming days or if we’ll be chased by the creditors we owe.

For those of us who struggle financially, it’s hard to imagine what it must be like to live without the constant fear of not having enough. We worry about food on the table, school fees for our children, and the never-ending cycle of bills that seem to pile up no matter how hard we work. But for the rich, these concerns don’t exist. So, what could they possibly have to worry about?

The Illusion of Having It All

From the outside, it seems like wealth would solve all our problems. If we just had enough money, we wouldn’t have to stress about the basics, right? But the truth is, everyone has their own set of struggles, regardless of their financial status. The problems may look different, but they are no less real.

While the wealthy don’t worry about paying rent or buying groceries, they often grapple with issues that are less visible. They might struggle with loneliness, trust issues, or even a lack of purpose. When you have everything you need materially, the emptiness of not having deeper fulfillment can become painfully apparent.

The Cost of Wealth

Wealth can bring comfort, but it also brings its own unique burdens. There’s the pressure to maintain and grow that wealth, the fear of losing it, and the stress of living up to societal expectations. Often, people with substantial wealth feel isolated, not knowing whom to trust. Are people around them for who they are, or for what they have?

Wealth can also lead to a disconnect from reality. When you don’t have to worry about daily necessities, it’s easy to lose touch with the struggles that others face. This can create a sense of guilt or a feeling of emptiness, as the problems they do face may not be understood or sympathized with by those who are less fortunate.

Understanding Each Other’s Struggles

It’s essential to remember that every person’s journey is unique. The worries of the poor and the rich might seem worlds apart, but both are valid and real. For us, it’s about survival—finding a way to stretch what little we have to cover everything we need. For the wealthy, it might be about finding meaning, managing relationships, or dealing with the pressures that come with their status.

When we focus too much on what others have, it’s easy to overlook the blessings in our own lives. Yes, we may face daily struggles and uncertainties, but these challenges can also draw us closer to God and to each other. Our reliance on His providence and our trust in His timing can become our strength.

Finding Contentment in What We Have

True happiness doesn’t come from what we have but from how we choose to live our lives. Whether we have much or little, the secret to contentment lies in gratitude. When we start each day thanking God for what we do have—our family, our health, the roof over our heads—we begin to see life in a different light.

While it’s natural to wish for more security and comfort, it’s also important to recognize that wealth doesn’t protect anyone from life’s trials. Each of us has our own cross to bear, whether it’s the worry of making ends meet or the stress of living up to high expectations.

A Call to Compassion and Understanding

Let’s strive to be more understanding of each other’s burdens, whether we’re rich or poor. Our struggles might look different, but they’re part of what makes us human. If we can learn to empathize with one another, to support each other with compassion and kindness, we can create a community where everyone feels valued and understood.

In the end, it’s not about how much we have, but how much love and understanding we share. Let’s pray for those who are wealthy to find purpose and meaning beyond material possessions, and for those of us struggling to trust in God’s provision and find strength in His grace.

May we all find peace in our hearts, regardless of our circumstances, and continue to support one another on this journey of life. 💖🙏
