Finding Strength in Seasons of Light and Darkness

We all experience seasons of peace where everything seems to flow effortlessly and times of intense trial when doubts and fears creep in. In moments of peace, it’s easy to feel invincible, confident in our abilities and decisions. But the true test of our character often emerges in times of struggle, when the world feels like it’s closing in and the warmth of clarity and certainty is momentarily withdrawn. The words, “He who is too sure in time of peace, will often show himself to be downcast or fearful in time of war,” resonate deeply with me. They remind us that if we rely too heavily on our strength in good times, we may falter when challenges arise. This has been a lesson I’ve returned to time and again. During times of peace, it’s natural to feel secure, perhaps even a bit too self-assured. But when trials come, it becomes clear how essential it is to cultivate a spirit of humility, remaining grounded and modest, even when life seems easy. I’ve learned that a humble heart is a p

Finding Strength in Christ’s Promise Through Our Trials

There are times when the weight of life’s labors, hardships, and countless demands feel almost too much to bear. We all have moments where the trials seem to pile up endlessly, and we wonder if we’ll ever catch a breath. But then, as I sat reflecting on these words from Christ — “Be not crushed with the labors which you have undertaken for me; neither let the tribulations which befall you cast you down…” — it was as if He gently reminded me to look beyond my temporary struggles. He calls us to trust that His promise is enough to sustain us, to console us, and to keep us pressing forward.

Each morning, I wake up knowing my to-do list is long, and sometimes the endless repetition of tasks feels heavy. But what fills my heart with hope is knowing that my labors, as exhausting as they may be, are a form of love and service. Christ is telling us not to be crushed by what we do, not to let our hardships break us. When I keep this in mind, even the most tiring of tasks starts to feel like a gift rather than a burden, a pathway rather than an obstacle. Every small act, when done with love and patience, has a purpose that goes beyond the moment.

I remember a time when we were especially burdened with family needs, finances were tight, and the way forward looked bleak. It was easy to feel overwhelmed, to wonder if all these efforts would ever truly make a difference. But then, I came back to His words: “I am sufficient to recompense you beyond all bounds and measure.” It’s as if He is saying, “Do not look for your reward in these fleeting struggles but in My eternal promise.” His assurance reminded me that every moment of pain or weariness will be more than worth it, even if I cannot see it yet.

Christ understands our struggles intimately, and He assures us that we will not labor or sorrow forever. He reminds us to “Wait a little while and you shall see a speedy end of all your suffering.” It’s a reminder that life is but a moment in eternity, and while we can often become so focused on the weight of our present, He calls us to see beyond it. His words offer us a vision of a future without sorrow, a promise of rest that will far surpass our greatest hopes.

When we think of all the little struggles, the worries, the ongoing work, I am comforted by the idea that “All is little and short which passes with time.” Every hardship will come to an end, and what remains is the eternal. I think about how my family and I can find solace in this. We can look at each day’s challenges not with frustration or despair but with the quiet confidence that each trial, no matter how hard, is temporary.

If you, too, find yourself weary, remember that Christ has promised to be our strength and reward. In moments of weariness, draw close to Him, trusting that your efforts, sacrifices, and endurance have a greater purpose. Let His words be your strength, the rock you lean on when the weight of life feels heavy. Our Lord’s promise is greater than our hardships, and His love will carry us through to a day when labor and trouble will be no more. Until then, let us hold onto His promise, finding joy in the knowledge that our efforts for Him will never be in vain.
